Day of Surgery

 

DAY OF SURGERY

  • Arrive at Surgery Center at time indicated on Preop Instructions Sheet
  • Leave all valuabes at home-but bring your insurance card, photo ID, & important contact phone numbers.
  • Bring a list of all of your current medications (follow surgical interview instructions on what meds to take the morning of surgery and what meds to hold). If you have not had a surgical interview prior to your surgery day and take daily medications please call the surgery center to determine what medications should be taken or held.
  • Do not wear makeup, nail polish, hairclips or contact lenses.
  • Remove all jewlery and body piercings from all parts of body.
  • Please do not wear hairspray, lotion or lip balm.
  • Have on your comfortable loose clothing that will fit easy over dressings.
  • Bring a case for glasses, contact lenses, hearing aids, or dentures.
  • Make arrangements to have a escort, friends, relative or surrogate with you.  A care giver MUST stay with you for 24 hours after surgery.  You must have a driver to take you home.  DO NOT plan to use a taxi or public transportation.
  • Please bring special equipment that you may use at home with you-such as a CPAP machine or walking cane.
